Gushikawa Castle Site: Old Stone Steps

The stone steps and the foundation platform lead to the castle’s Misaki-no-Kuruwa (main enclosure).  Studies indicate that segments of the foundation platform are from different time periods: old stone steps were filled to build the two-tiered platform.  The stone steps visible on the surface are from older times.  This area is located on high grounds within the castle site, and the stone walls were likely taller than the present height to serve as a lookout.
